TNB: Alternative route no better

December 30, 2011

SHAH ALAM: Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) is maintaining its stand that the alternative route proposed by a foreign consultant is no better than the original route for the stalled high-tension cable project in Rawang.

“Some of the shops along Jalan Ipoh will have to be demolished [if we use the alternative route],” said TNB vice-president (transmission) Datuk Rozimi Remeli in a phone interview yesterday.

A kindergarten expected to be completed in January is only metres away from the proposed high-tension cable. Villagers are worried about the health impact.

CAR: SELANGOR ARAH TNB PERTIMBANG JAJARAN BAHARU

December 22, 2011

KENYATAAN AKHBAR
22 DIS 2011

iii)      Jajaran baharu sepanjang Lebuhraya Persekutuan Rawang-Ipoh
iv)       Jajaran bawah tanah.

Rawang villagers can sue TNB for trespass

December 17, 2011

Malaysiakini 16-12-2011

Tenaga National Berhad (TNB) can be sued for trespass by the villagers of Kampung Sungai Terentang, on whose land the national power company intends to hoist high tension cables, says a technical committee representing them.

“The villagers can sue TNB for trespass, as it does not have their permission to enter (their land), as required by law,” committee secretary James Ooi said in statement.

NONEThis was because, Ooi said, TNB needed to apply to the local district office – in this case, Gombak – for permission to enter into any land to put up new electricity lines or upgrade existing ones.

The district office, in turn, must get the express consent of individual landowners before TNB can be granted permission.

This, Ooi said, was in accordance with the requirements under section 11 of the Electricity Supply Act 1990. Read more…

TNB skeptical over relocating transmission line near highway

December 17, 2011

Malaysiakini 16-12-2011

The alternative transmission line route proposed by the New Zealand consultants to Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) following the protest from Kampung Sungai Terentang villagers on the original route is unlikely to work, said TNB vice president Rozimi Remeli.

He said the alternative route which cuts through the Federal Highway from Rawang will face inadequate space along the highway.

“From my understanding, the consultants have not actually seen the situation in the federal highway. We are inviting them to do so,”

“Most importantly, (if we options for the alternative route), whenever we want to do maintenance, we have to close down the highway,” he said at a media briefing session at the TNB headquarters today. Read more…
